Another week has gone in Chinese football and there are some big stories this week including another managerial casualty and the Cameroonian who impressed on international duty.
Another managerial casualty
Firstly, let’s start with the shock departure of ex-England and Italy manager, Fabio Capello from Jiangsu Suning. Suning announced yesterday that the reason behind the departure is regarding what they call irreparable disagreements with the managing board. This is believed to be over Capello wanting to keep his player, Benjamin Moukjando who he signed after they signed Richmond Boakye. However, after Boakye signed Suning had four foreign players meaning someone had to go.
Capello wanted to get rid of club record signing, Alex Teixeira, but the board said no and instead, Moukjando left for Beijing Renhe. With Capello departing, it is likely to see him heavily linked with the vacant Italy job. The Suning board acted fast and hired Cosmin Olaroiu as Capello’s replacement. The Romanian has plenty of previous experience managing in Asia and his last club was Shabab Al-Ahli in the UAE. This is his first job in China.
Henan Jianye striker impresses on international duty
Henan Jianye’s Christian Bassogog thoroughly impressed on international duty for Cameroon. The striker scored a brace in their 3-1 win over Kuwait. This will hopefully give him the confidence to try and get his first goal for Henan after failing to score in his first three appearances.
Could Bale be the next player to make the move to the CSL
Gareth Bale spoke this week about how an offer from the CSL may be too tempting to turn down. The Welsh winger was on international duty in China with Wales at the China Cup. There is doubts over Bale’s future at Real Madrid due to him failing to nail down a starting place.
Chinese player’s to cover up tattoos
Another big story this week is a ban introduced by the state in which players will have to cover up their tattoos in a strict moral values clampdown. The measures will be rolled out across all levels at both national and club level and even underage football. This is even being extended to musician and people on Chinese TV. This is certainly something that will affect a number of players will have to adhere to with a number of Chinese players in the CSL having tattoos.
