Henan Jianye FC are based in Zhengzhou, Henan. They play their home matches in the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium. They are owned by the Jianye Residential Group which is a part of Central China Real Estate Limited. The club is the successor to the Henan Provincial Team which was founded in 1958. The club was reorganized to become fully professional in 1994. The club has never won the top-tier. The club’s highest position was third place in 2009.


Jia Xiuquan took over the rins in 2014 after a previous spell in 2008. He previously managed a team that he played for – Bayi. He also had spells at Shanghai Shenhua in 2000, 2004 and 2008-09. He also had a distinguished played career. His playing career took him to Bayi, Patizan, PDRM FA and Gamba Osaka. He made over 50 appearances for China. Xiuquan was investigated over allegations of match-fixing during his stint with the Junior China teams and the Shaanxi Guoli. He was arrested, released and had all charges against him dropped.


Ahmad Al Salih played for a number of Middle-Eastern clubs before making the move to China this year. He represents Syria in International Football. He has played over 36 times for his country.

Eddie Gomes played for a lot of clubs in his home country of Denmark. He has not yet made his full debut yet but he was part of the Denmark Olympic Team in 2016.

Borec Dockal played for 4 years at Sparta Prague and made close to a 100 appearances there. He made the move to China in 2017. He also at a loan spell in Turkey at Konyaspor.

Javier Patino joined Henan in 2015. He had a spell in Spain with Cordoba. He played for S.S Reyes, Xerez, and Buriram United. He has made a dozen appearances for Philippines.

Christian Bassong joined Henan in 2017. He played for a Danish club AaB. Following an impressive display at the 2017 AFCON. His transfer was a record fee received by AaB surpassing thee £3.5m paid by Ajax.


Leandro Netto is top scorer for Henan with 30 goals. Second on the list is Javier Patino who has scored 21. Yang Xu is third with 18.


Henan Jianye FC has a rival with Jiangsu Sunning FC due to the close proximity between the two clubs.
