CHONGQING DANGDAI LIFAN FC

Chongqing Dangdai Lifan FC is based in Chongqing and plays their home games in the Chongqing Olympic Sports Centre. Chongqing is owned by the Dangdai International Group. They were founded in 1995 and competed in the third-tier of China’s first professional football system. Their greatest achievement is winning the Chinese FA Cup in 200 and finishing fourth in the Asian Cup Winners’ Cup in 2002. They recorded their highest league finish in 2000 when they finished in fourth-place. After successive promotions and relegations, Chongqing won the Chinese League One in 2014 and was promoted to the Super League. According to Forbes, Chongqing is the 9th most valuable team in China with a value of $76m. The club had an estimated revenue of $17m in 2015.

MANAGER

Chongqing are managed by Chang Woe-Ryong. He has managed a number of first-teams, reserve teams and even a University during his career. His most high-profile teams are Incheon United and Omiya Ardija in South Korea. He was a regular International during his playing career and was part of the South Korean team for the Asian Games in 1980.

INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS

Jun Woo-young has been with Chongqing since 2016 and has made 30 league appearances. He is a regular for the South Korean national team having made his debut in 2015.

Hyuri is currently on loan from Atletico Mineiro. He previously played with Guizhou Renhe in the Chinese Super League. He won the Copa Libertadores in 2016 with Atletico.

Goran Milovic is the only European player currently contracted with Chongqing Lifan. He transferred to China in an 800-yuan move. He made his solitary appearance for Croatia in 2015 after coming on as a substitute against Russia.

Alan Kardec is another Brazilian playing in China. He played for Sao Paulo for two seasons and had a less than successful spell at Benfica. He moved to China in 2016 and has a goal ratio of 0.70 per match.

Fernandinho joined Chongqing in 2016. He played for a number of Brazilian clubs like Flamengo. He first moved to Chongqing in 2015 before making the move permanent in 2016.

RIVALRIES

Throughout their relatively short history Chongqing has built up rivalries with Sichuan Quanxing, Chengdu Blades and Chongqing FC. The last rivalry was known as the Chongqing Derby. The oldest and fiercest rivalry is with Sichuan Quanxing as they represent their neighbouring provinces in the top-flight. This rivalry ended in 2005 as Sichuan folded. This lead to a new rivalry with Chengdu Blades from Sichuan province. The club had a healthy rivalry until Chengdu shut shop in 2015. The local inter-city Derby is played with Chongqing FC.
